I’m going to share with you another exciting place to explore if you are currently living in or visiting Jakarta, especially if you are an art junkie.
Art:1 Gallery and Museum
Jl. Rajawali Selatan Raya No. 3. Jakarta Pusat, Indonesia.
+62 21 64700168
Before changing it’s name to Art:1, it was originally founded as Mon Decor in 1983. As the pioneering private gallery in Jakarta, it holds over 2.500 artworks and won the Best Gallery of the Year award in 2010.
My favorite space in the gallery : The Balinese Section.
This is one of my favorite art pieces in the gallery, can’t help but taking a photo with it. Look at the details. Breathtaking.
Some other paintings and art installations :
There are many more art pieces and installations in this gallery, my photos can hardly do any justice to the place. So, it’s better for you to go and see for yourselves.
This space is definitely a one stop art destination. You can find art pieces by senior and well known artists, as well as pieces by emerging artists from all over the world. With so many art works, this place will have something for everyone. The staffs are all very nice and would guide you through to make sure you make the most of your visit. They even provide varieties of free drinks you can choose from at the end of the tour. I truly enjoyed my visit.
Tickets are from Rp 25.000 to Rp 75.000 (It depends on how many parts of the gallery you’d like to explore. If you are students, please bring your student card, you’ll get special price.)
Looking at art really does me good. It’s a kind of therapy for me, to be able to see into someone else’s soul through their arts. As Cesar Cruz one said, “Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable”.
