It’s the first post of 2017. I hope your holidays was rejuvenating. As 2017 rolls in, resolutions talks are trending (as it has always been every new year). Do you have people come and ask what your resolutions are this year? Apparently, it’s the same for me here, too.
I have nothing against people who are so into their new year resolutions, nor have I anything against people who just want to let it flow. For me, the key is to find the perfect balance between the two.
It will be unwise to not have any goals to achieve in life, but it’s also very wrong to be so focused in your goals that you don’t spare time to rest, recharge yourself and just be grateful for what you have in this point of life. You have to remember that gratitude is the magnet for miracles.
Steps to create a better year :
- Do you know who you are? Discover yourself first (if you haven’t). This is very important. When you know yourself, it’s very easy for you to be grateful. For example : I am very grateful that I am able to learn foreign language quickly.
- Do you know what you want? Don’t be afraid. Every person has dreams, it is not natural not to have one (or afraid of one, because you are afraid of failure). Be it the kind of person you want to be, new habits, a new house, a designer bag, or to find love. Do not despise your own dreams! Fears are paralyzing, focus on what you want instead of what you don’t want. What you think you become. So, think only good thoughts. When you think of “I don’t want to be poor”, You will have the word ‘poor’ in your mind consistently, and you will act based on your fears. Why don’t you change it to “I want to be wealthy” ?
- Do you know why you want it? So often, the ‘why’ factor is what move you to really do something and make your goals come true. It is more effective, for example : “Learning foreign language is good for you.”. This sentence won’t make anyone wants to learn new language. But if you say “Do you want to travel the world? Or work in other countries? Then you need to master a few foreign languages to increase your chance.”. I think the later one seals the deal.
Start to create your year according to how you want it to be, and feel good about it. When you feel good, you change your day, then your year and eventually your life.
